Passport to Careers

Through the Passport to Careers program, students receive a scholarship that assists with the cost of attending college and specialized support services from a college staff member.

Eligibility

The Passport to Careers program serves two categories of students: former foster youth and unaccompanied homeless youth.

Former Foster Youth:
  • Have been in care on/after their 13th birthday
  • Enrolled at least half-time in an eligible program at an eligible college by their 22nd birthday
  • Are a Washington resident
  • Have not earned a Bachelor's degree
Unaccompanied Homeless Youth:
  • Have been determined to be an Unaccompanied Homeless Youth by their 22nd birthday
  • Enrolled at least half-time in an eligible program at an eligible college by their 22nd birthday
  • Are a Washington resident
  • Have not earned a Bachelor's degree

Eligible students may receive up to $933 per quarter through the Passport to College scholarship. Incentive Grant funds are also available for additional financial assistance, dependent upon funding and student needs. Passport students also receive personalized support services from the Designated Support Staff, including navigating college and financial aid, accessing campus and community resources and budgeting.   

To apply, students should indicate their foster or unaccompanied homeless youth status on their FAFSA/WASFA, or can reach out to the Student Financial Resources Department.
