TRIO Student Support Services at BTC is aimed at helping students adjust to college life, succeed in classes, graduate with a degree or certificate, and start a career or transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

TRIO Student Support Services at BTC is 100% federally funded by the Department of Education. As a federally funded program, TRIO can provide all services free of charge to students enrolled in our program.

TRIO provides students with free resources and services such as  

• A personal coach, who helps students navigate the college process, find funding, and make the most out of their college experience
• A supportive community of BTC students and staff members
• Workshops, cultural events and student leadership opportunities
• TRIO Student Lounge with computers, printer access, and snacks
• TRIO graduation stole
• Support connecting students to the Study-Hub and eLearning for tutoring

To qualify, students should meet ALL of the following criteria:

• A US Citizen or permanent resident
• Pursuing a degree or certificate at BTC
• Working on their first college degree
• Demonstrate a need for academic support
• Have a high school diploma, GED, or other equivalent qualification for federal student aid

Additionally, students must meet AT LEAST ONE of the following:

• Have limited income
• Be a first-generation student (neither parent graduated from a four-year college)
• Have a documented physical, medical, psychological, or learning disability
