Martin Luther King Day is an important National Day of Service.
Make it a day on, not a day off.

Whatcom Community College, in partnership with Western Washington University, Northwest Indian College, and Bellingham Technical College, invite you to join us for this year’s virtual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. The virtual ceremony will feature New York Times bestselling author and WWU alumna Ijeoma Oluo (’07), as the keynote speaker.

Please join us as we focus on Awakening the Legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and realize a more inclusive future. Additionally, all are invited to honor the spirit of Dr. King by participating in one of many service opportunities throughout the community.

Ijeoma Oluo is the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller "So You Want to Talk About Race" and the forthcoming Mediocre: The Dangerous Legacy of White Male America. Her work on race has been featured in the New York Times and the Washington Post, among many others. She has twice been named to the Root 100, and she received the 2018 Feminist Humanist Award and the 2020 Harvard Humanist of the Year Award from the American Humanist Association. She lives in Seattle, Washington.

Whatcom Human Rights Task Force Conference

January 15-17, 2021, the 23rd Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Human Rights Conference provides a space for the community to come together and renew our commitment to the ideals that Dr. King held dear. The Conference offers a rare opportunity for people of all ages and walks of life to share our stories, lift our voices to call out injustice and take actions that will help make Dr. King's ideals reality.
