Belmont Technical College is a learner-centered institution
committed to meeting the academic, technical, career development
and workforce needs of individuals, businesses, industries,
and organizations. To serve its diverse student population and
provide access to necessary skills in a rapidly changing workplace,
the College employs a range of delivery systems including distance
and community-based education, and strives to maintain low tuition
rates and an abundance of financial aid sources. To provide
an environment where quality lifelong learning can take place,
the College depends on a constant and continually evolving interface
with all community stakeholders.
Supporting Goals:
- General Education - To provide general education
opportunities necessary for academic and personal advancement.
- Technical Competencies - To develop within
students the technical competencies necessary for the
attainment of personal goals, successful job entry and
advancement, utilizing modern facilities and equipment,
qualified faculty, and responsive curricula.
- Educational Mobility - To provide lower division
undergraduate coursework supporting technical education,
transfer, and upper division academic achievement, thus
providing the structure necessary for continued education
and career mobility.
- Access - To provide services and educational
programs to all individuals regardless of color, race,
religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, age, or disability;
to maintain tuition and fees at the lowest possible
levels, and to provide institutionally- based financial
aid; to maintain cooperative affiliations with elementary
and secondary schools.
- Student Support Services - To facilitate success
in educational programs through developmental education
and other individualized student support services.
- Workforce/Economic Development - To provide
for the employment needs of business, industry, and
labor and for recurrent occupational training needs
as part of community and economic development.
- Community Service - To provide college facilities,
avocational programs and other services to the community.
- Resource Management - To maintain a resource
management system that ensures fiscal integrity, quality
programs and services, and enduring institutional viability.
- Outcomes Assessment - To systematically evaluate
and update the outcomes assessment program thereby ensuring
continuous institutional improvement.
