Gainful Employment (GE) is a federal reporting and disclosure requirement for educational programs that prepare students for gainful employment in a recognized occupation. Gainful Employment programs at Bellingham Technical College include only Title IV (financial aid) eligible workforce programs that result in a certificate. Associate of Applied Science (AAS), Associate of Applied Science-Transfer (AAS-T), and Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degrees are not Gainful Employment programs and are not included in the Gainful Employment program disclosures.
Program Cost and Loan Debt reflect the total cost and loan amounts while enrolled at BTC for students who have completed a GE certificate. Total cost and loan amounts can be inflated if a student is working on more than one certificate at the same time, earns a certificate along the way to an AAS/AAS-T/BAS degree, and/or switches programs. Please talk to a BTC advisor for a more accurate estimate of total costs and loan information for GE programs.
Number of students who complete in normal time reflects the number of completers in an academic year who were enrolled for less than or equal to the expected time to complete for a GE program. This number is only reported for programs with at least 10 completers in an academic year. Students may be enrolled for a longer period than the expected time to complete for a variety of reasons, such as working on more than one certificate at the same time, earning a GE certificate along the way to an AAS/AAS-T/BAS degree, switching programs, or going to school part-time while working.
