Degree or certificate-seeking students must take the ACCUPLACER Next-Generation Assessment to evaluate reading, math, and writing skills or have previous coursework evaluated for credit. Previous ACCUPLACER Classic scores will still be honored within 5 years of testing. If you are
interested in having previous test scores or transcripts evaluated, including high school please see the Transfer Scores section below.
ACCUPLACER Next-Generation is not a pass/fail test – it simply measures your current skill level. Your scores will help you and your advisor choose the right classes, make a plan, and obtain any needed support services. Starting off with the ACCUPLACER Next-Generation means a more successful college experience.
No appointment is needed to take the ACCUPLACER Next-Generation Assessment – just pay the $25 fee to the BTC Cashier, Campus Store, or Campus Store Online,and bring your receipt to your test. You will also need to bring your photo identification such as a driver's license, Tribal ID, TWIC card, or passport. This is not a timed test, but plan to spend about two and a half (2.5) hours taking the exam.
Your Placement Test will be in H Building, Room H-4 during the times scheduled below.
If you are not able to come to Bellingham Technical College's Assessment Center you now have the option of purchasing a remote testing voucher which would allow you to take the test at an Assessment Center near you. Khan Academy produces micro-lectures in the form of YouTube videos. In addition to micro-lectures, the organization's website features practice exercises and tools for educators. All resources are available for free on their website: https://www.khanacademy.org/.
Purchasing your ACCUPLACER Next-Generation test voucher allows you to take each of the five placement subject area tests twice within 12 months of purchase.
You may print your ACCUPLACER Next-Generation score report by logging in to your ACCUPLACER Next-Generation account using the email address that you registered during your testing session at www.accuplacer.org
You will need to provide the contact information (institution name, address, fax, and phone number) for the institution you would like your scores sent to as well as a completed Official Test Score Transcript Request (PDF)
Students must attend a mandatory GET Started appointment. Meet with Advising and Career Services staff as they help you navigate your Goals, create an Education Plan, and become Tech Ready.

- The ACCUPLACER Classic assessment, ACCUPLACER Next-Generation assessment or Transcript Evaluation must be completed prior to attending the appointment.

Any student taking a course in our Transitional Studies building or participating in an IBEST program will need to take the CASAS exam for the purpose of tracking student progress. If you are a student that this would benefit the exam is given in the Assessment Center at no cost to the students.
The CASAS exam consists of Reading, Listening, and Math and is not a pass or fail exam, it is simply a measurement tool. Students that show a need for extended time will receive a letter to share with their instructors to help with extended time facilitation. - Accuplacer score below a certain range
Extended time on exams may be granted to students. Students inquiring about extended testing time will be asked to take the CASAS exam. Once the CASAS is taken students will meet with an Academic Advisor to have extended time approved.
