Within 50 miles of Belmont Technical College , there are about 12,000 people between the ages of 22 and 45 who have started a college degree, but have not finished it.
Did you know that there is overwhelming evidence that higher education completion will result in higher wages and that an educated workforce is a plus in regard to attracting new businesses, industries and jobs to the area? What an impact it could make in our region if more people completed their degrees! The accelerated weekend college concept can help you to complete your degree and meet your educational goals in a convenient and compressed time frame. The concept itself is not new. Many colleges across America have similar programs, some dated back to just after World War II. The beauty of this program is that you can transfer previously earned eligible college credit to Belmont Technical College , earn credit for life experience, earn credit by exam, take on-line classes, or evening classes, and combine them all with the weekend program to finish your degree. The program is laid out for the next two years, so you know the course schedule well in advance and also when breaks occur. A student cohort of no less than 20 is being recruited for the first class, and I hope you will be one of them.
This program is for a dedicated, motivated, and organized person. The responsibility for learning is yours with our faculty acting more as a facilitator to ensure that you grasp the concepts and understand their application in the working world. Technology such as e-mail, web portals, chat rooms and discussion boards will be used to exchange information so that in-class time is reduced to just six, 3 ½ hour sessions per course.
Many staff members and resources at Belmont Technical College will be available to support you along the way and to assist you to succeed in the program.
