SETTING UP YOUR ACCOUNT ON WEBCT

Step 1.
Connect to http://courses4.blackboard.com

You will then see the following screen:

 

Step 2.  Select the option "Create myWebCT"

You will see the following screen:

 

Step 3.  Enter your first name, last name and the email address you will be using for class in the boxes provided.

Below this personal information box you will create your log on account information.  Only YOU will know this information once it is entered and accepted, so write it down and keep it in a place where you can find it when  you need it! Because we share this WebCT server with other schools, WebCT has these rules for creating logins and passwords:

Step 4.  WebCT provides an option to help you out if you do forget your password.  In the box below the "Confirm Password" box you can type in a question such as "What is my dog's name?"  Below this box you type in the answer such as "Bowser".  If you do forget your password or ID, WebCT will ask you this question.  If you can correctly answer it, WebCT will send you your password or ID to the email you provided.

Once you have filled in all of the boxes click "Continue".

Step 5. Use your login and password to login on the next screen.

You will see the following screen with your name listed at the top.  This is your personal WebCT screen.  It is called "My WebCT".  You can access this screen from anywhere within your course site by selecting the "My WebCT" link. 

 

Notice, however, that no courses are currently listed.  The next few steps will show you how to add courses to your "my WebCT" site.

Step 6. To select courses, click on the button labeled " Add course".  You will see a screen similar to the one shown below:

Schools offering WebCT courses are listed in the drop down menu beside "View by Category".  You will be adding a Belmont Technical College course so select "Belmont Technical College" and click update.

Notice that a list of current courses on WebCT offered by Belmont Technical College is now shown below the drop down box.  Some of the courses accept "self registration" and some will only allow you into the course if your instructor has added you.  This course is one you must "self register" for, so click on the course name to select it.


Step 7.  This is a self-register course, so simply click the Register button shown in the image below.

Step 8. If you have successfully completed the previous steps you will see a Course Added screen similar to the one shown below.  The course name you choose should show at the top.  At this point you may choose to add another course, go directly to the course site or return to your My WebCT screen.

If you select "Return to my WebCT" you will see that you now have your new course added to the listing under  the heading "Courses" as shown below:

Clicking on the course title under "Courses" will take you directly to the Home Page of your course.

Step 9: To log out of your account click "logout" at the top right of the page.
