Trustees Scholarship

As a recent graduate who can meet residency requirements for Belmont, Harrison, or Monroe counties, you are eligible to apply for this tuition-only scholarship. This scholarship awards tuition payments for successful candidates after other forms of financial aid are applied. A successful candidate must meet all scholarship and enrollment requirements. This scholarship can help with tuition costs (after other forms of financial aid are applied) and can significantly reduce the costs of pursuing an exciting and profitable career. Please take some time to review all literature and take note of important deadlines.

To be eligible for the Trustees Scholarship you must complete the following by our priority deadline of March 31, 2008 . After March 31, 2008 and before September 22, 2008 awards will be made on a first-come basis should funds remain.

•  Apply for Admissions to Belmont Technical College by going here On-Line Application

•  File your 2008-2009 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by going here: FAFSA . You cannot complete the 2008-2009 until after January 1, 2008. BTC School Code is 009941.

•  Submit the 2008 Trustees Scholarship Application to BTC by mailing it to the Financial Aid Office. Obtain the online form by going here: 2008 Trustees Scholarship Application

•  To help you keep on track for the Trustees we created a checklist for you: Checklist

Here are some examples of how the Trustees Scholarship at BTC works.

Example 1) The Student named Jamie fills out the FAFSA online by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov . About a month after Jamie does this the Financial Aid Office at BTC gets the results and the Financial Aid office completes Jamie's financial aid package. Jamie's EFC ( Expected Family Contribution ) is 691. With an EFC of 691 Jamie receives a Federal Pell Grant for the year (Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarter) of $3,660. Jamie is also a Ohio Resident and receives a OCOG State grant of $1,800 for the year. Jamie has enrolled in 15 credit hrs for the Fall at BTC.

Total Charges

$1,256.25

Total Financial Aid

$1,800

Note that the Trustees is $0. The reason it is $0 is the Trustees covers Tuition only after other forms of aid has been applied. The Pell and OCOG calculate higher than the $911.25 tuition Charge. Jamie would have $563.75 to use towards the cost of books for the Fall.

Example 2) The Student named Jessica fills out the FAFSA. About a month after Jessica does this the Financial Aid Office at BTC gets the results and the Financial Aid office completes Jessica's financial aid package. Jessica's EFC ( Expected Family Contribution ) is 3337. With an EFC of 3337 Jamie receives a Federal Pell Grant for the year (Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarter) of $1,260. Jessica has enrolled in 15 credit hrs for the Fall at BTC.

Note that the Trustees is $492. The reason it is $492 is the Trustees covers Tuition only after other forms of aid has been applied. The Tuition charge is $911.25 ($912) tuition and the Pell grant is $420, which leaves a balance of $492. Jessica still has a balance due to the BTC for $344.25. Jessica can take out a Federal Stafford Loan to cover this cost and the cost of books if she qualifies.
