Creativity, initiative, responsibility, willingness to meet a challenge, and the desire to produce perfect work—these are some of the characteristics of a good office administrator.  The efficiency of any organization depends upon the caliber of its assistants who are at the center of corporate communications.  They perform the wealth of administrative and clerical responsibilities crucial to organizational efficiently.

Students in this technology are assigned the types of tasks encountered in a business environment and they learn to work independently to accomplish a variety of assignments.

Skills acquired include:

  • typing and speed writing by utilizing a multi-tape system,
  • advanced word processing techniques such as merge and boilerplate, database management and spreadsheet applications,
  • fundamentals of problem solving,
  • and develop specialized skills using calculators and transcribers.

With the high-tech skills secured in this exciting program, the successful office administrator can excel in the business office and may also find it a stepping stone toward a managerial position!

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Create letters, memos, agendas, and itineraries.
  2. Use machine transcribers for creating and editing documents.
  3. Learn techniques for mass mailings, utilizing merge features with databases.
  4. Develop skill in proofreading and editing documents
  5. Learn correct record management procedures in order to file and retrieve correspondence in a correct and timely fashion.
  6. Design documents with graphics, WordArt, borders/shading and various other word processing features to create professional documents.
