Emergency Medical Services - Paramedic (EMT)

This degree is designed to prepare students to provide immediate emergency care as an entry level Paramedic.  Those completing the program will be able to:

  • Integrate pathophysiologic concepts with assessment findings to develop a field impression and  treatment plan for patients with both medical and traumatic emergencies
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues, health care staff,  patients and their families 
  • Proficiently demonstrate the skills required for management of the sick and injured
  • Display professional standards of behavior and meet employer expectations

Careers in Emergency Medical Services are growing rapidly and opportunities exist throughout the local area and nation. Graduates can expect positions in:

  • Communications and Dispatch
  • Hospitals and Health Agencies
  • Other Support Services

Successful students will be eligible to test for the following certifications:

  • Ohio  Paramedic
  • NREMT – Paramedic
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • ITLS Provider
  • Pediatric ITLS

Testing/certification eligibility is stipulated by the Ohio Division of EMS

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Write complete and proper pre-hospital run reports.
  2. Receive positive preceptor evaluations.
  3. Complete and pass their NR practical skills during their final quarter.
  4. Be able to integrate and apply knowledge and skills acquired throughout the paramedic program in a professional setting, as demonstrated by successful completion of all practicum projects.
