Acceptable Use Policy

|
All students interested in using the Internet must participate in an
authorized training session offered through the LRC or as part of selected
courses. Once trained, students are authorized to use the Internet for
applicable research needs as long as all acceptable use guidelines are
followed. Students are required to sign a release indicating they have
read and understood the rules of conduct listed below. Violation of
these rules can lead to loss of Internet privileges and disciplinary action
as detailed in the college catalog under code of conduct.
-
DO show courtesy to others...both in cyberspace and in the physical
world.
-
DO protect any account numbers and passwords you were assigned.
YOU are responsible for what occurs under that account.
-
DO read and obey the acceptable usage policies formulated by the
Internet Community and Belmont Technical College. Copies of this material
are available on the Internet and through the LRC.
-
DO obey all current, applicable State and Federal laws governing
Internet Usage and electronic information.
-
DO exercise restraint in printing information from Internet sources.
Downloading files to a disk saves paper and ink, thus helping to contain
college costs.
-
DO NOT harm other people through harassment, false posting or other
unethical behavior.
-
DO NOT interfere with other people's work...avoid unsolicited interactive
chat mode, lengthy and pointless electronic postings, or other invasive
actions.
-
DO NOT use the electronic network for such activities as buying
and selling items, advertising, snooping, hacking, tampering with files,
and sending, viewing and receiving obscene or indecent material.
-
DO NOT tamper with default settings on accounts or the computer
equipment. This includes changing browser settings, downloading software
and files to the hard drive or loading unauthorized software.
-
DO NOT steal other's intellectual property...downloading software,
documents, photos, etc. without reimbursement, authorization, or citing
credit.
-
DO NOT abuse or damage the equipment. (Food and drinks are not permitted
in the area for this reason.)
-
ACCEPTABLE USE GUIDELINES MAY BE MODIFIED AS INDICATED. LATEST COPIES
OF BTC'S INTERNET AND COMPUTER GUIDELINES WILL BE POSTED IN ALL LABS.
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR FOLLOWING THESE.
BELMONT TECHNICAL COLLEGE INTERNET USAGE AGREEMENT
I have read, understand and agree to abide by all acceptable use guidelines,
rules and regulations for use of the Internet as detailed in the LATEST
edition of the Internet Acceptable Use Policy and Guidelines. I
understand that the copy of the rules presented to me during my training
session may be modified at any time and that I am responsible for following
and obeying the LATEST copy of such guidelines. I further understand that
this latest set of guidelines will be posted in the applicable computer
laboratories and copies will be available in the LRC.
In order to be granted access to the Internet, I understand that
I must attend an authorized training session, either through one of my
regularly scheduled classes, continuing education or through those scheduled
in the LRC.
I understand not following these rules will be considered a violation
of Belmont Technical College's Code of Conduct (Res.No.74-3 Code of Conduct)
and could result in the disciplinary responses detailed in the college
catalog as well as loss of Internet privileges for myself, and potential
of the Internet access privilege for the student community at BTC.
Please print the agreement using your browser's print option, complete
below and drop off the completed form in the LRC.
