Scholarships
For many residents of the Tri-State Area, the biggest barrier to obtaining a college education is lack of finances. In fact, 75 percent of Belmont Technical College 's students receive some form of financial aid each year, much of it in the form of scholarships. Without this essential assistance, they would not have the opportunity to attend college.
To help ensure a college education is available to those who can't afford it, Belmont Technical College offers a generous scholarship program. Your donation to our scholarship program will help a promising student attain the education he or she desires. You may designate your gift to the fund of your choice, leave it undesignated to be used where the need is greatest or work with the college to design your own scholarship!
Established Scholarships
Your donation to one of Belmont Technical College 's established scholarship funds will help assure these programs will continue into the future.
Charles Kocher Scholarship Fund: The main scholarship program of the college is named after the late Charles W. Kocher, an educator who dedicated his life to student success. Mr. Kocher served as a Belmont Technical College faculty member and assistant dean for business technologies for many years. He retired as Dean of Educational Services in 2002 and was designated Dean Emeritus by the College. In keeping with Mr. Kocher's legacy, money donated to this fund is used to provide scholarships to help students achieve their educational goals.
Trustees Scholarship: The Trustees Scholarship provides up to nine consecutive quarters of free tuition to qualifying high school graduates for whom no other financial aid is available. Traditionally, Belmont Technical College has been able to provide for the Trustees Scholarships from its operating budget. However, recent state budget cuts have made it increasingly more difficult for us to fund this needed scholarship. Private contributions are essential if we are to continue to offer Trustees Scholarships into the future.
Design your own scholarship
If you would like to design your own scholarship, we welcome your ideas. You may wish to establish a scholarship in memory of a loved one or friend. Or your donation can be used to help a student attain a degree in a discipline that is close to your heart.
Some examples of scholarships others have established include:
Hilda Burrows Door-of-Opportunity Scholarship: This scholarship program covers tuition for qualified unemployed students and their dependents
Kim Taylor Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship, awarded each year to an exemplary Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) student, honors the memory of ADN graduate Kim Taylor, ('88)
Elizabeth J. Rubloff Scholarship: This scholarship program is awarded each year to an exemplary Practical Nursing Program student and an ADN student
Senior Citizens Scholarship: Ohio residents, age 60 and older, who are enrolled in a regularly-scheduled class may qualify for tuition assistance through this scholarship program
