| Myth: Since the Trustees Scholarship only pays for tuition, I won’t save any money.
FACT: The Trustees Scholarship is available for a maximum of nine quarters and depending on your choice of programs, you will save between $2,000 and $7,000 by attending Belmont Technical College. Add to that supplemental Financial Aid that you may be eligible for and your savings increase. The scholarship does not cover books, supplies, course fees, or special fees. |
Myth: The Trustees Scholarship means I go to Belmont Technical College for free.
FACT: The Trustees Scholarship pays for your tuition costs. It covers tuition charges after other sources of financial aid are applied. For example, the Federal Pell grant and the Ohio Instructional Grant may be applied to tuition costs before the Trustees Scholarship is utilized. However, your tuition will be paid even if you do not qualify for a Pell Grant or the Ohio Instructional Grant (OIG). The scholarship does not cover books, supplies, course fees, or special fees. |
| Myth: I don’t live in Belmont County, so I’m not eligible.
FACT: All seniors meeting residency requirements for Belmont, Harrison, or Monroe Counties are eligible for the Trustees Scholarship, if they enroll the summer or fall after their high school graduation. See your high school guidance counselor, or call 695-9500, ext. 1563, or, in Ohio, 1-800-423-3047, for more information. |
