Miscellaneous Scholarship/Assistance Programs

  • Trustees Scholarship - Provides two-years FREE tuition to all current-year high school graduates who are residents of Belmont, Harrison or Monroe Counties in Ohio and enroll at Belmont Technical College by the fall quarter of their graduation year. The scholarship, which covers tuition charges only, will be subject to all established guidelines.

  • Hilda Burrows Door-of-Opportunity Scholarship - Provides access to educational services at Belmont Technical College for qualified unemployed Ohio residents and/or their dependents. Eligible persons will receive a scholarship to cover instructional fees.

  • College Scholarship - A limited number of scholarships are available through Belmont Technical College and will provide for all instructional fees. Applicants who wish to be considered for this scholarship must meet all applicable guidelines and must submit a letter of application, a resume, and a current copy of high school grades to the Financial Aid Office by May 1 prior to enrollment.

  • Senior Citizens Scholarship - A scholarship for all instructional fees for senior citizens aged 60 or older applicable to regularly scheduled credit classes on a space available basis.

  • Kim Taylor Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded to an exemplary Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) student in memory of Kim Taylor, an ADN student from the class of 1988. All applicable guidelines will apply.

  • Gust Maistros Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded each year to both a practical nursing student and a transitional registered nursing student in honor of Gust Maistros, founder of Bell Nursing Home in Morristown, OH. All applicable guidelines will apply.

  • Bell Nursing Home Fund - This fund is available to practical nursing students who may have an emergency financial need to help meet the cost of education.

  • Project Best, Inc. - This is a cooperative effort between labor and management in the Ohio Valley construction industry. Those eligible are employees or dependents of a participating contractor and/or participating construction trade union who plan to enter a degree-granting institution to pursue an associate or bachelor's degree. Awards are based on established academic achievement with criteria to be determined by the institution where application is made.

  • Elizabeth J. Rubloff Scholarship Award - This scholarship is awarded each year to both a practical nursing student and a registered nursing student who exemplify certain performance criteria according to faculty nomination. The award is presented following completion of the first two quarters of study in the practical nursing program and after the first three quarters of the registered nursing program.

  • St. Clairsville Rotary Scholarship - This scholarship will provide financial assistance to a resident of the St. Clairsville/Richland Township School District in pursuing their educational goals at Belmont Technical College. Application deadline is three weeks prior to the start of each winter quarter, with the award being presented for the start of winter quarter. All applicable guidelines will apply.

  • Russell J. and Eleanor M. Woolman Scholarship - This scholarship will provide financial assistance to current Belmont Technical College students as they pursue their educational goals. Application deadline is three weeks prior to the start of each winter quarter, with the first award being available Winter Quarter, 2000. All applicable guideslines will apply.

  • Veterans' Benefits - Veterans of the U.S. Armed Services, Reservists, or National Guard members may be eligible to receive educational benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Children and spouses of deceased or totally and permanently disabled veterans may receive educational assistance. All applicable guidelines will apply.

  • Vocational Rehabilitation Program - Each state maintains a Vocational Rehabilitation agency to assist clients in training or retraining to overcome various diabilities. It may be possible to have all or part of educational expenses covered under such programs. Contact the Vocational Rehabilitation office serving the county of residence.

  • Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and Trade Readjustment Act (TRA) - For assistance under this program, students must apply at their local county WIA office. The college's WIA clerk works directly with each county office in completing the paperwork required. Attendance and grades are reported to sponsoring agencies and students must maintain a 2.0 GPA each quarter to maintain eligibility.

  • Other Sources of Financial Aid - Other private scholarships are often available through high schools, fraternal organizations, churches, etc. Students should check such local sources carefully.
